Open Window

now it’s raining and if I don’t close the window
water will pour over the stereo speakers and ruin
a beautiful sound-system and if

I continue meandering through the sounds
of the water drops
I may never stand up in time to close the window

but the sound busies my ears unlike traffic and the
water fuels my interest unlike taxes
and plants remind me of their donations, their

wondrous desire to live, while
my speakers are beginning to wet nothing
is turned off
