Because We Necessity Is Need

etching a pattern over sunsets
the obligatory portraits which arise are
here bowing to the orange-glow

as if they know if they do this they’ll become immortal
immortal like wax before it thaws under the heat of electricity
house-dressed in wires hidden behind panels the type of

no one sees clearly except when pretending they were built
to never die
to remain steadfast in the night, like a
horse with a figured cloaked in darkness, some kind of

super hero that will help us
solve problems and free us from the confines of
whatever confines are

price tags we’re happy to pay
anti-capitalist and critically stamped out
how can anything change if cents and coins remain
like the holes in our faces
the necessity to breathe
